British Airways offer daily flights to Athens from Heathrow Airport, with costs for economy class starting at around £75 one-way. Flights to a number of inhabited Greek islands that have international airports are available from a number of other flight operators, and flights from other British airports are also available. The official airline of Greece is Olympic Airlines (OA). The approximate time of a flight from London to Athens is five hours, and the city’s newly constructed airport Elfetherios Veniselos offers a 24-hour bus service into the city, which is located 27km Southwest of the airport. Also available is car hire from a number of large hire service companies and taxi services into the city via a six lane motorway. All other international airports both on the mainland and the surrounding islands – that’s Chania, Corfu, Heraklion, Kalamata, Karpathos, Kavala, Kefalonia, Kos, Lesbos (Mytilini), Mykonos, Preveza (Lefkos), Rhodes, Samos, Skiathos, Thessaloniki, Thira (Santorini) and Zakynthos – offer similar services along with duty free, bureau de changes, restaurants and everything else that a person would expect in them. www.olympic-airways.com
